Uniform Divorce Recognition Act
The Uniform Divorce Recognition Act has been adopted by seven states: California, Nebraska, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Rhode Island, South Carolina, and Wisconsin. The Act applies only to those seven states. The Act does not apply to any other state.Read more...
The Uniform Premarital Agreement Act (UPAA) was proposed and recommended for enactment in all the states by the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws. The UPAA was intended to be relatively limited in scope, applying to agreements that are between prospective spouses made in contemplation of and to be effective upon marriage. The UPAA has been adopted by a majority of states.
Although children who are born outside of the United States may automatically acquire U.S. citizenship under the Child Citizenship Act of 2000, no proof of citizenship will be issued to the child's parents unless such proof is requested.
